Alvin's New Toy

Apparently this is supposed to save us money...lol. Na - his new found hobby of archery will definitely cut down on the cost of ammo, cause I guess you can't reuse bullets like you can arrows. So I have my own high tech Robin Hood now.

Two funnies...

Funny #1
I have been meaning to post this first one since I got back from Phoenix...

I had just got off the plane in Phoenix and headed down to the passenger pick up. There was a mom and her son doing the same. She was pretty young, I'd say mid-twenties. Her son was probably about 6 or 7 years old. He was a cute little dude with curly long hair. Kind of like a young skater in the making.

Down by the baggage claim in the Phoenix airport they have large glass cases featuring some cultural art from the area. This little kid stood there for a good 5 minutes at least, staring at one piece through the glass. All of the sudden there were streams of tears coming down his cheeks.

He backed up and sat down still enamored with this piece of art. His mom walked over and said, "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" His reply, "It's just...so...beautiful!" His mom got all flustered and annoyed, "Stop being so sensitive!" and then she walked away all embarrassed.

Funny #2
Last night Alvin and I went out to Firehouse Pizza in Centerville. (yumm..bbq pizza..) Anyhow, the entire night Alvin could not stop talking about his new found hobby of archery. I heard all about the different kind of components, the best brands, how a lot of women get into archery, etc.

The night previous he was trying to explain to me why he wanted to get into archery. There was a whole host of reasons rehearsed but one of which was that he had never won a trophy and this would give him a chance to compete and possibly win a trophy.

With Valentines around the corner I had a thought to get him my own little trophy. (Corny, I know.) But it would list that he won first prize for being the best. If I had thought of this sooner I could had ordered on online for fairly inexpensive but because of the date ordered it wouldn't have arrived until the end of the month, kind of defeating the purpose of the whole Valentines idea in the first place.

So back to last night at dinner... I told him about my idea for the trophy. Here's how it went down:

N: I was going to get you a trophy but I found out it'd take too long to get here.

A: But... It wouldn't mean anything.

N: (blank stare)

A: I haven't won any archery competitions and I don't even have my own bow yet.

Classic Alvin!

Rosie & Jack

Dear Friends and Family;

I need to ask a special favor. My dear sweet sister Rosie and her precious little boy Jack are going through a tremendously difficult time in their lives. If you could pray, fast, etc. for them I would be extremely grateful. I love these two with all my heart and it is unbelievably hard to watch the pain they have to endure. Tonight all I could think of to do was to kneel down in prayer with Rosie and plead with our Heavenly Father that through the power of the Atonement that her pain and hurt would be relieved if not taken away completely. I know Heavenly Father will make her whole again and heal her heart.

Loads of love and gratitude for all of your support on their behalf!
Nattie
